1. Limited validity Tourist/Business visas are issued to foreign nationals in the normal course. In case of multiple and long term visa, applicants are required to apply in the countries of their residence.
2. Validity of the passport should be at least 6 months from the date of deposit of the application.
3. All previous passports should be attached (not necessary if the applicant has traveled on the current passport to India.)
4. Children should apply on their own separate passports.
5. Pakistanis of dual nationality MUST apply on their PAKISTANI passports.
6. Individuals with Pakistan Overseas Citizenship (POC) card should attach copy of the card.
7. If any column in the application form is left blank or not filled in complete, the application would be rejected.
8. All supporting documents should be clear and legible.
9. The fees for limited Tourist visa is PKR. 5000/- for US nationals and PKR. 3500/- for other nationals. The exact fees depends on the nationality, type and duration of visa. Exact fee may be ascertained from Counter No. 1 of the Visa Section or please click on the fee schedule.
10. The visa processing fees is non-refundable irrespective of whether visa is issued or not.
Only those on bona fide tourist visits should apply for tourist visas. Tourist visas are normally for six months, with sinlge/multiple entries. If merited, one year multiple entry tourist visas may be issued; but the maximum period of stay on any one visit cannot exceed six months. Tourist visas are non-extendable and non-convertible.
Business:
Multi-entry business visas are normally issued for a 6-month period. Visas valid for longer periods can be issued if the specific circumstances warrant it, but the period of stay in India for any visit cannot exceed six months. A letter from an authorized representative of the employing organization should accompany applications for business visas. It should indicate the nature of the applicant's business in India and certify that the applicant has been provided with sufficient funds for his maintenance and other expenses in India. The application should also be accompanied with letter of invitation from the organization in India.
Student:
Issued for the duration of the course or for a period of one year, whichever is less, to bona fide students to pursue regular studies at recognized institutions in India. An admission letter from the concerned institution and details of the financial arrangements for stay in India should accompany the application.
• In case of admission to medical or paramedical courses in India, a Letter of Approval or a "No Objection" Certificate from the Indian Ministry of Health is also required.
• For admission to undergraduate or post-graduate courses in Engineering or other technical disciplines, a Letter of Approval or a "No Objection" Certificate from the Ministry of Human Resources Development (Department of Education) is required.
• For pursuing a course of research, a detailed synopsis of the research project, countersigned by the sponsoring institution in India, should be submitted along with the visa application.
Please note: Processing of applications for student visas may take up to three months.
Transit:
Single/Double entry visas, valid for a maximum of 15 days, are issued to applicants who would be transiting through India.
Journalist:
Journalist visas are issued to professional journalists, media support crew and photographers for a maximum period of three months, to cover current events. Conference:
Conference visas are issued for the duration of the conference to be attended. A letter of invitation from the conference organizer should be submitted along with the visa application. Where relevant, the consular officer may also require proof of approval of the Indian authorities for holding the conference.
Missionary:
Issued for single entry and duration as permitted by Government of India. A letter from sponsoring organization indicating intended destination in India, probable length of stay, and nature of duties to be discharged should be submitted along with guarantee for applicant's maintenance while in India.
Please note: Processing of applications of visa for missionary activities may take upto three months.
Entry:
An entry visa is issued to a person visiting for professional work, meetings, study tours, or longer stay (other than for education, employment, journalism, commercial business or missionary work). Entry visas are normally issued for six months, but can be for longer periods, depending on the specific circumstances.
