Pilgrim Visa

A pilgrim visa is given to a group of pilgrims (more than 10) visiting religious sites in India.

Since a pilgrim visa is given to a group, you cannot travel separately from the group. The group is expected to travel as per the predetermined itinerary. At no point, is any member of the group permitted to leave the group and travel alone.

Documents
which need to be attached for individual applicants of the pilgrim group are:

1) Copy of NADRA Card along with its English translation and the translated copy should be notarized.

2) Copy of any utility bill, such as electricity bill/ gas bill/ landline telephone bill (any one as address proof) 

3) Valid Polio Vaccination Certificate.

In addition to this, the group leader’s case should have the following additional documents:

a) Letter of invitation for all the members of the group, attached as a list from the organisers in India clearly mentioning the name, address and contact numbers of the inviting organisation clearly mentioning the pre-determined itinerary

b) Any two of these documents of the Indian invitee: passport (preferred), copy of electricity bill, telephone bill, ration card, voter identity card, clearly mentioning the address and contact numbers

c) Letter from the organisation / individual in Pakistan who is organising the group

d) A complete list of applicants at least 45 days prior to the proposed visit in this format enclosed as well as emailed to attachev1.islamabad@mea.gov.in.

In case photographs are not uploaded while filling the online visa application form, the group leader should additionally submit to the High Commission a CD containing photographs of each applicant scanned in JPEG format, which is saved with the online visa application number.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

Can the group leader submit the visa applications and passports directly to the High Commission?

No. All the applications will have to be submitted through any of the TCS Visatronics / Gerry’s International- Visa Drop Box 

Why is there a delay in issuing visas?
Once a visa application is received, all applications are scrutinised and electronically referred to the Foreigner Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, India for necessary clearance. Once clearance is received, the visa is endorsed and dispatched to you through the TCS Visatronics / Gerry’s International- Visa Drop Box  availed by you.
 
The average visa processing time for each application is 45 days. It is therefore, advisable that visa applications are submitted well in advance, in order to avoid any inconvenience later.
 

Can I travel alone with a pilgrim visa?
Since a pilgrim visa is given to a group, you cannot travel alone. All pilgrims are expected to travel together. At no point, is any member of the group permitted to leave the group and travel alone.

Can the pilgrim group travel to different places as per its convenience?
No, the pilgrim group is expected to travel as per the pre-determined itinerary, which is shared with the High Commission at the time of receiving the visa application.

What is the maximum duration someone can stay in India on a pilgrim visa?
Pilgrim visas are single entry visas, which are not extendable and are valid up to 15 days of stay.

Can I perform some commercial activity like sale purchase or signing any contract while on pilgrim visa?
Any misrepresentation or undertaking of activities in India incompatible with the visa category can result in an immediate revocation of the visa and deportation from India. For example, if you have been given a pilgrim visa and you perform activities which are commercial in nature, then you are likely to be deported from India and denied visa for subsequent entry into India.
